Beta carotene is essential for good eyesight, cell growth and a healthy immune system which will fight diseases. In the body, beta carotene is converted into Vitamin A. It acts as an antioxidant which neutralizes free radicals. Diets rich in beta carotene help keep the skin healthy and reduce problems like cataract.

There is no minimum amount of beta carotene to be taken daily, but a large amount can result in yellowish skin. Beta Carotene is found in brightly colored fruits and vegetables like Carrots, Mangos and Papayas

Folic acid is needed for the production of red blood cells and other new cells in the human body. 400 micrograms are required by an average adult. Dosages of  more than 1000 micrograms can be harmful.

Folic acid is contained in legumes like dried beans and peas, liver , spinach, asparagus and other leafy vegetables.
